This is a preformed orthodontic retention wire, manufactured from braided stainless steel to offer flexibility and strength. Its flat design and size of .010 inches thick by .028 inches wide make it ideal for fabricating fixed lingual retainers. These retainers are bonded to the lingual (inner) surface of the anterior teeth (typically canine to canine) after the completion of active orthodontic treatment. Their main function is to maintain the achieved dental alignment, preventing relapse or unwanted tooth movements. The 10-unit pack format provides a convenient supply for clinical practice. The braided construction of the wire allows for precise adaptation to the lingual anatomy of the teeth and offers good resistance to occlusal forces.
